Qi Gong with Angela Sokolova

Healing For Joints

This class is an absolute must for people who want to improve their health. Our body relies on the health of our bones and joints and the entire skeletal system to function properly.

In the first section of this 70 minute class we will do exercises to relax our muscles and release tension from our joints. There are 18 major connections in our body system and we will cover all of them during the class starting from the first one in the neck and moving down to our ankles and toes. The exercises include some gentle body tapping, rotations, twisting and  stretching with breathing. The exercises are fun and invigorating.

The second section is a visualization exercise. In this part of our class a radiant, healing light is visualized in the bones and joints of the entire skeletal system. Through visualization we stimulate healing process in our body and allow energy to go places where healing is needed the most.

We finish class with a couple of floor exercises for spine alignment and gentle massage.

Therapeutic Qi Gong

Gentle. Gracious. Healing.

If you suffer from any pain, disease, fatigue, stress, or the effects of aging, this class just may be the answer you’ve been searching for!
Qi Gong is a traditional energy exercise practiced for many centuries by the Chinese for health, healing, recovery from injury, and disease prevention.
It is the practice of body and mind and is a basis for deeper trainings like Thai- Chi (Taiji) and Martial Arts.
There are hundreds of forms of Qi-Gong. In this class you will be introduced to Therapeutic Qi Gong.
This form is easy to learn and easy to practice. It combines physical exercises in slow, graceful movements, gentle stretching, breathing, and self-massage.
It is extremely powerful, yet the practice of this form of Qigong is surprisingly simple and very calming. It is for everybody of any age!

Opening the Flow

  • Open the Flow of your energy and recharge in this Qi-Gong class:
  • Create a healing body vibration with drumming music
  • “Energy Dance” meditation
  • Qi-Gong  gentle stretching
  • Relaxation
Have you ever watched a baby dancing to music?
If you have, you most likely noticed repetitive patterns in her movements:
bouncing up and down, moving body from side to side.
These movements are an early response to rhythm that starts to show up as early as at the age of 5-6 months. We all have these inborn reflexes for rhythm.
Later we learn the "cool" moves to impress our parents and peers, or to make a decision never
to embarrass ourselves and them again:)
But those "baby's" simple and spontaneous movements will forever be remembered as the ones that give us simple relaxation and joy.

In my Qi-Gong classes warm-up usually starts with those simple dancing movements to slow down the busy mind and feel the needs of the body more.
And in this special class, Opening the Flow, again we will use dancing to become involved fully in our body healing rhythm and go deeper into a state of a healthy, "no-thinking-but-feeling-and-letting-go", vibration with the help of Kodo.

Kodo is the native Japanese taiko drumming group. Their compositions evoke spontaneous movements to clear away stress, anxiety and fears and can even be used to work on specific points on the body to release energy blockages.

"The word ‘Kodo’ is a homonym for ‘heartbeat’—humanity’s most fundamental source of rhythm. The Japanese taiko drum, in the hands of these master Kodo drummers, has an astounding organic power. The echo of the sound penetrates the human psyche and operates in profound ways familiar and mysterious.
It is a spiritual practice that represents the heartbeat of the people on the Earth." ~www.celebrityseries.org/CS_performers_2010_2011/kodo.htm

At the end of the class we will do some Qi-Gong exercises, such as gentle stretching and static Qi-Gong meditation postures. You'll feel lighter after the class!

Please come to experience how healing rhythms can help soothe and heal the mind, body and emotions.
